Gouverner par autocontrôles ?La réduction des risques auprès des usagers de drogues

Abstract : This paper provides an analysis of preventive work conducted by professionals in harm reduction facilities for people who use drugs. This type of action involves controlling if people who use drugs respect prevention pratices and encourages them to do so, in particular to reduce sanitary risks associated with injection. If some authors consider this activity as a form of body discipline, we rather would like to show by using two ethnographic studies that this work requires building a trust relationship, finding good opportunities to talk about drug consumption and finally negociating the adoption of rules that reduce risks. Thus, preventive action seems not to be a form of body discipline, but much more a “government by selfcontrols” where professional and drugs user both have to control their behaviours.
