Les inégalités sociales dans le champ des addictions

Abstract : General population surveys show that social position, profession and level of education model relationships to psychoactive products. In adults, gender also plays a major role; in adolescents, confidence in the future and the importance attached to academic success may influence addiction just as much as socio-demographic variables. Social representations of addiction are strongly marked by images linked to social insecurity. The link between social inequalities and addiction is complex and must be reintegrated in a broader social and political context in order to grasp all of the meanings.
