Patients, médecine, hôpitaux : une nouvelle donne ? Comment l’analyse économique répond-elle aux évolutions sociétales,

Abstract : In twenty years, the healthcare system and its actors have experienced profound change, as has research in healthcare economics. New questions have been posed, accompanied by the widespread development of health data. Although a degree of asymmetry persists concerning the expert knowledge on healthcare that provides crucial foundations for a professional view on regulation, the system is also the subject of external, critical and documented scrutiny by the government, health insurance schemes and patient groups. This new situation has transformed the roles of the three principal actors: patients, doctors and hospitals. This article describes how studies in healthcare economics have developed in parallel with this paradigm shift.
