La communication d'informations dans la relation médecins-malades

Abstract : Today, information appears to be one of the principal stakes in the doctor-patient relationship. However, in spite of the law of March 4, 2002 on patients’rights, can it be said that effective information is achieved? Observation of medical consultations in a hospital setting and collection of verbal exchanges between the protagonists make it possible to illuminate practices of the withholding of information, even of lying. Here, we propose to show some of the limits in the communication of information in the clinical setting and to analyze its mechanisms, using an explanatory approach different from the ones generally relied upon.
