Ancient Cities : Teaching and Learning in the Digital Age

The paper presents the international, multilingual teaching project 'Ancient Cities'. The contributors explain the production of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) 'Discovering Greek & Roman Cities', its structure and learning material (such as videos, introductory texts, and quizzes), the participants’ varied demographics and their feedback. Furthermore, they show how the course’s materials were successfully implemented in academic teaching at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the University of Pennsylvania.

Cet article présente le projet d'enseignement international et multilingue 'Ancient Cities'. Les auteurs expliquent la production du cours en ligne ouvert et massif (MOOC) "Discovering Greek & Roman Cities", sa structure et son matériel d'apprentissage (vidéos, textes d'introduction et quiz), les caractéristiques démographiques variées des participants et leurs commentaires. En outre, ils montrent comment le matériel du cours a été mis en œuvre avec succès dans l'enseignement universitaire à l'Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne et à l'Université de Pennsylvanie.
