Highlights 1. We dated one MIS-3 moraine at the base of >7000 m-high peaks in the Yadong rift 2. We dated one LGM moraine at the base of ~6000 m peaks with abundant LGM precipitation 3. We compiled ages from three N-S transects from northern Himalaya to central Tibet 4. LGM moraines > MIS-3 moraines only where LGM precipitation are strongest 5. We show new LGM monsoon limit from relative moraine extents
